Wow! The book Augustine to Freud by Kenneth Boa looks like a must read! It evaluates six major theologians (Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Jonathan Edwards, Soren Kierkegaard, Paul Tillich, Karl Rahner) and eight major psychologists (Sigmund Freud, Erik H. Erikson, C. G. Jung, Otto Rank, Abraham H. Maslow, Carl R. Rogers, Alfred Adler, Erich Fromm) and then compares and contrasts these individuals not only against their own peers but also against each other – reviewing the similarities and differences between the theological and psychological propositions! This sounds like a perfect blend of The Story of Christianity (Justo Gonzalez) and The Story of Psychology (Morton Hunt).
